EXCUSE MYEWAH

There will always be room in the music world for a band that are eccentric, eclectic and downright crazy. Excuse Myewah are such a band. Their albums cut across all genres of music whilst still encompassing popular styles. They can write songs that will make you giggle, songs that set you thinking, and the ever popular love-song that will pull at your emotional strings.

You may be forgiven for thinking that this is a band that take themselves too seriously, but will be delighted to find upon listening that the reverse is true. Their tongue in cheek manner comes across in everything they do and the sense of fun in some tracks will endear you to them as much as I have been.

Baz, one the members, claims he was kidnapped by aliens 5 years ago, but hastily released when they became frustrated with the way he would regularly cheat at Monopoly, thus spoiling their cheese and dead-cow feast nights. He maintains he has been on a mission all his life but the plan self-destructed before he'd learnt to read, so he's not sure what it was. He's an Aquarian and his favourite colour is blue.

Gary, the other member, has been conducting a 15-year study into why white dog turds have disappeared from our streets, thus increasing the need for modern-day children to buy chalk to mark out their hopscotch grids. He was recently quoted in a famous American science journal as being "very near to an answer but very far from a conclusion. We may have all slipped into another dimension where white dog turds don't exist during the famous blackout of 1992 but I can't be sure" was the quote. He's an Aquarian and his favourite colour is blue.

I think it's obvious that they are both from another dimension, and may be of danger to the general public. I would advise only going near them if you have a lucky rabbit's foot

NEWS

The new album "Equality for lemons" is expected in 2010. Excellent new songs with a big serving of production makes this album a must have. It wouldn't be fair to not give you a sneak preview so here's one of the tracks.

What me worry - Excuse Myewah  (4:13)

I have heard some early versions of the tracks and they are very impressive indeed. The addition of  guest artists, Dan Crompton playing Trombone, Flute and Harmonica and Phil "Sweet" Gladstone on Guitar, certainly adds a different dimension to what I have heard so far. Very interesting indeed. More details can be found on the MySpace page of Excuse Myewah in the Blog section entitled "Work in progress", where there is a short interview with the band.

Anyway after a years of mixing and blood  sweat and tea, they finally released “Pile of shirts” in 2006. The story of a crazy mixed up individual who discovers line dancing and Thai Chi only to find out that the two don’t compliment each other. He then embarks on a journey through Neasden with his faithful spider Zed and a value tin of baked beans, to see if he can cure them of the congestion charge. On the way he meets a tramp called Bono, who insists he was once a famous international pop star but can’t remember the words. It makes me cry every time I hear it.

Further developments include the band being on KIAC radio in Kansas, and radio four's new radio channel "Slash Radio". They couldn't resist being on MySpace either, see them in the music section, be a friend or leave a comment.
